PIP uses a small number of its own cookies and stores some settings in your browser. We do not use advertising cookies, social-media pixels or third-party analytics. More about personal data: Privacy Policy.
1. Cookies set by PIP#
| Name | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
pip_sess | Keeps you logged in. Not readable by page scripts (HttpOnly). | Until you log out, or 30 days (12 hours for staff) |
pip_su | Marks the browser you signed up with, so only that browser is logged in when you press "Confirm my e-mail". Only sent to the confirmation address. | Up to 7 days |
pip_ref | Remembers the first invite link this browser opened, so the person who invited you is credited. | 30 days |
pip_ref_last | Remembers the newest invite link this browser opened. | 30 days |
pip_lang | Remembers the language you chose in your account settings. | 1 year |
Our network provider, Cloudflare, may set its own strictly necessary security cookies (for example to tell people from bots).
2. What PIP keeps in your browser's storage#
These items stay in your browser (local storage or session storage). Most of them are never sent to us.
| Item | What it is for | Sent to PIP? |
|---|---|---|
pip.lang, pip.cx | Your language and country choice from the banner (or that you chose "Not now") | No |
pip.cx.go (this tab only) | The greeting after you switch language | No |
pip.vid | A random browser ID | Yes: only with the sign-up form (duplicate-account checks) |
pip.ft | Where your first visit came from (campaign tags, referring site), for 30 days | Yes: at sign-up |
pip.home.* | What your home page showed last time on this device, and whether the intro played (some item names contain your login name) | No |
pip.fx.* | Visual-effect quality and which animations you have already seen (some item names contain your login name) | No |
pip.mn.in, pip.ac.certnew.*, pip.acad.hash | Which Academy animations and new certificates you have seen (kept on this device); your place in the Academy (pip.acad.hash, this tab only) | No |
pip.kit.* | PIP Kuhinja recipes, drawings, settings and hints, stored under a code made from your login (not the login itself) | No, unless you export or share a recipe yourself |
pipterm.* | PIP Kuhinja: a copy of your chart settings, layouts and drawings, and the price history kept on this device so the chart opens fast | No (your PIP account keeps its own copy of the settings, layouts and drawings) |
pip.k.* | Scanner settings: market, timeframe, view, pivots, sound, notifications, language, history | No |
If you allow notifications for the scanner in your browser, the scanner can show them on this device. You can switch them off in the scanner or in your browser settings.
3. Third-party content#
- Fonts and scripts: our pages load fonts from Google Fonts and, on the homepage, animation libraries from cdnjs and jsDelivr. These services receive your IP address and browser data when the page loads.
- Videos: Academy videos (YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode, Vimeo, Cloudflare Stream or Bunny Stream) load only after you press play. The video host may then set its own cookies.
- Live rooms: YouTube Live, Zoom, Google Meet or Telegram open only after you tap to join. Their own cookies and privacy rules apply.
4. Your choices#
- You can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings.
- Deleting them logs you out, resets your language and banner choices, and deletes PIP Kuhinja recipes and drawings stored in that browser. Export recipes you want to keep first.
- Without the
pip_sesscookie you cannot stay logged in.
If the language versions differ, the English version prevails.
